My ability to accomplish anything in life depends on three very important areas of my life: my mind, body and spirit. Each area must be catered to, they must flourish and must progress so that mountains ahead can be climbed.
My mind must be sharp, sensitive to my environment, alert to possibilities and remain in a positive state of being; a being of “feeling good” with the continuous understanding that every moment in life is a treasure.
My body must be strong and physically fit so that I can endure the physical stresses that may be asked of me. My body must run efficiently and contribute to the well being of my mind, maintaining a constant state of excellent health.
My spirit must take a shield and sword to fight for justice. When my spirit is strong, no physical or psychological stress may take hold of me. I will walk at ease and with grace, confident that God walks with me.
Since my sister died 10 months ago, I gave way to depression and anxiety. I now begin to realize that my life and every moment in it is very short lived. I will never have the opportunity to do things differently, or say things differently. The thought that tomorrow I could be dead, leaves me questioning: have I said what I wanted? Have I done what I wanted? Did I allow myself courage to say the things I feared to say? Did I take the time to sit someone down and tell them how much I cared for them and how much I have learned from them? Did I affirm their life while they were living?
On reflection, seems we can affirm someone’s life on their death, but how often do we affirm them while we sit in their company?
Where am I going with this? I can feel a power, a feeling of joy; it’s strange but If I allow myself the freedom to think only for today and allow myself the courage to say and do the things I truly want to say and do, then I get this feeling of contentment and of happiness. A sense of hope. Hope that freedom does exist….Nelson Mandela found freedom in his mind although his body was imprisoned for thirty years!!!!!
The important thing is not to focus on “trying” to do something but rather just “be.”
The important point for me to remember now is that I will have to train myself to think positively at all times, I will have to recognize when I begin to doubt, and find tools to help me back on track. This is why it is so important to have mind, body and spirit working at full strength. They will support each other.
I have lost 10lbs over the last 5 weeks exercising and lifting. I feel great about it. I wasn’t overweight at all but I was putting on the belly. My goals are to continue strengthening my body.
To run fast, to lift heavy; I will need physical strength. I will need the chemicals released through exercise, endorphins, that will contribute to my success.
Setting and reaching goals will inspire me to continue and build momentum towards my goals.
Do you recognize the thought pattern below?
I shower in the morning thinking, I’m getting fat. I walk upstairs and find I get tired more easily and I think I’m out of shape. I undress at night and I think I’m letting myself down. Is this familiar to you?
I got tired of these thoughts. I wanted to feel good and confident. I know that one of the great ways to keep my mind positive is to eradicate areas of my life that make me feel negative. I can truly say that getting my body the way I want is by working to help keep my mind and life positive. I know that when I look in the mirror each day, as I dress, I feel more confident about my body. I also know that If I should ever have to find myself fighting for my life that I will be able to run, lift and protect myself.
1) Your Mind
I firmly believe that in order to accomplish great things, you must accomplish them in the mind first. This means visualizing and living the accomplishments in your mind. Think about it, if you consider yourself not worthy of such accomplishments, then how do you suppose you are going to let yourself accomplish these things? Each time an opportunity arises you can say I can’t attempt to do that; I don’t have the skills or time or the ability. Yet, if you believe you’ve already accomplished these things and that they can be accomplished, then when the opportunities arise you will see them and commit to accomplishing them because in your mind you’ve already done it.
Your thoughts become actions. Nobody controls your thoughts other than you! This means that whatever you think about manifests itself into actions. If you want an education, a job, a girl, whatever it may be, you have probably succeeded in accomplishing these goals. You wanted to drive a car. You knew it was dangerous, that it would take time, but you probably spent the hundreds of hours learning, practicing and achieving your goal step by step.
I know that my mind will not allow me to accept my ability to accomplsh my goals unless I tell myself and believe that I can accomplish my goals. The more I believe I am a millionaire, the more my actions will align with the actions of a millionaire, and the closer I will become to being a millionaire.
So, In order to nurture these thoughts, I will seek material to give me guidance and support. Nobody else is going to do this for me, so I must take on the responsibility to become what I wish to become.
2) Your Body
Your Body is needed for three things. Personally these are the reasons I take of my body.
First, I mantain my body in case of emeregency. Emergency defined as an attack on me or my family. A war, or an up rising is not much to worry about in my country. However, that doesn’t mean it can’t happen. How long will we remain civilized? The Roman Empire fell! That era turned back time as barbarians took control. For a couple hundred years civilization was quashed. I hope that life does not go that way. But I will be prepared for anything.
Secondly, If I am to remain attractive to my partner through our lifecyle, I must maintain my body. It’s no wonder that over 50% of marriages fail! We seem to think that because the ring is on the finger, we can let go. No need to be attractive, spontaneous, loving, patient or physically fit. Maintenance of a relationship requires so much more. If you can’t maintain yourself, how can you expect to maintain a relationship with another human being. Ever heard the saying, you must love yourself first before you can love anyone else.
Third, A great mind can only achieve what the body can do for it. Typing quickly and accurately speeds up the time in which success can be achieved if your achievement rely’s on typing. Dealing with external stresses need a strong heart, cardiovascular system, lung capacity, a well balanced chemical system. Smoking, excessive alcohol, drugs, fast food, sweets, etc all cause imbalance in the body. Treat it right if you want you mind to be at optimum performance.
3) Your Spirit
I quote from Rhapsody of Realities, June 2009, ” You’re not struggling to be the best, you are the best!, In Matthew 4:19 Jesus met two fishermen and said to them, “follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Now, the exciting thing about those words of Jesus is the fact that He was the one making them, and not they “trying” to become. God has made you who you are – a bundle of success; an achiever, and a victor in Christ Jesus, and no one can make what God has made. He lives in you to ensure you become that dream that you have in your spirit. Not only do you deserve the best but you are the best!
